Israel like the Stars,
Sand and Dust
![]()
This short
article is to highlight to some British Israel (BI) adherents that "perhaps",
many of the promises they attribute to fulfillment through Britain and America were
actually fulfilled in OT Israel, and that "perhaps" BI has read into the text
things that ought not be.
The
expressions
Revivalists
and BI point to a number of "figurative" expressions relating to prophesies of
what Israel would become, or how she would be described. Some of the more well know are as
follows:-
-- And I will make thy seed as
the dust of the earth (Gen 13:16, 28:14)
-- I will multiply thy seed as
the stars of the heaven, (Gen 22:17)
-- and as the sand which is upon the sea shore (Gen 22:17)
For some extremely subjective
reason, British Israel and Revivalists imagine these prophesies point to Britain, the
Commonwealth and America, simply because of their size (and, dare I say it, significant circular reasoning). The
problem with the BI version, is that all these identifications were fulfilled in OT
Israel.
SOLOMON & THE DUST OF
THE EARTH
2 Chronicles 1:9 (KJV)
Now, O
LORD God, let thy promise unto David my father be established: for thou hast made me king
over a people like the dust of the earth in multitude.
SAND ON THE SEA SHORE
1 Kings 4:20 (KJV)
Judah and
Israel were many, as the sand which is by the sea in multitude, eating and drinking,
and making merry.
STARS OF HEAVEN
Deuteronomy 1:10 (KJV)
The LORD
your God hath multiplied you, and, behold, ye are
this day as the stars of heaven for multitude.
Deuteronomy 10:22 (KJV)
Thy fathers went down into Egypt with threescore and ten persons; and now the LORD thy God hath made thee as the stars of heaven for multitude.
STARS OF HEAVEN &
POSSESSION OF THE LAND
Nehemiah 9:23 (KJV)
"Their children also
multipliedst thou as the stars of heaven, and broughtest them into the land, concerning
which thou hadst promised to their fathers, that they should go in to possess it.
This topic, relating to certain
promises, could be taken further, but I don't think there is much need. The point is,
there is no "requirement" to look for fulfillment outside of Israel in the OT in
many of these matter.
